RE Curriculum
As a church school, we want our children to have a rich and deep knowledge and understanding of Christianity as a global living faith. We also want our children to appreciate the diversity of other faiths and worldviews and respect wider beliefs and practices. During their time at our school, the children will have the opportunity to explore some faiths in more detail – Judaism in KS1, Sikhi in lower KS2 and Islam in upper KS2. As part of the EYFS curriculum, our youngest children also learn about different faiths by exploring significant festivals and celebrations.
Through our curriculum, children develop an appreciation of how religion influences the lives of individuals and societies in different times, cultures and places. We aim to develop children who can reflect on their own religious, spiritual and philosophical thinking.
Our RE curriculum is aligned with our commitment to teaching the British value of mutual respect and tolerance of different cultures and religions. We celebrate diversity and welcome opportunities to learn about ideas and beliefs that are different from our own. We use a combination of two schemes to deliver the RE curriculum - Understanding Christianity and the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education's RE Scheme.
